Mike Mitruk Bursary
Mike Mitruk was a long-time member of the Tribune Boys’ Basketball Tournament Committee and a referee in the Niagara District Basketball Referees Association. The Boys’ Tournament Committee has determined that an award should be created in his memory.
The Mike Mitruk Bursary will be presented annually to a player from the tournament, who has played in a minimum of 2 Boys’ Tribune Tournaments, who has gone above and beyond their required 40 hours of Community Service required for their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, is active within their own high school with mentoring and/or coaching and is planning to pursue a post-secondary education.
The recipient will receive a cheque from the Committee for $300.00 during the presentations on the final night of the tournament.

Tribune Scholarship Awards
Each year the Tournament Committee reviews applications from eligible students that participated in the Tournament. The scholarships are to assist and recognize deserving student athletes and cheerleaders, both financially and athletically. An applicant, should have demonstrated in one or more of his/her high school years, exceptional basketball or cheerleading skills and sound academic achievement.
To date, the Tournament Committee has awarded $84,000 in scholarships.
